We don't want to end up like this...
... Oh wait, I already did!
The truth is: I'm not frugal. I'm anything but frugal.
This shopping detox is going to be HARD. I've tried it before and each time I think I'm on the right track, I find something that I really 'need' and end up buying it. Story of my life.
So, remember how I spent $2,000 in one month (if not click here) and I swore that it would be my Last Shopping Spree Ever? Well, it so happens that my workplace is accross a shopping mall and there was this sale last Friday......
1) a red dress
2) a blue maxi-dress
total: $117
This was my last purchase. Really. Starting from today, it's a new improved me. No more shopping. No more I will try but instead, I will do it. I will be frugal.
1) No more Starbucks. I go to Starbucks every day. Sometimes twice per day.
That grande soya chai latte that I pick up each morning on my way to work might be few dollars, but when I'm buying it every morning, the cost adds up!! I'll be saving $140 a month, $1680/year! From now on, I will make my coffee at home. I have this cool Keurig coffee machine. That would do the job.
2) End my gym membership and exercise outside.
I have a membership but for the past few months, I've only been there a couple of time. What a waste. It's a good thing my membership ends this month. There are other ways of exercising that don't cost a cent.
3) Pack my lunch everyday
No more lunches at fancy restaurants.
4) Stay out of my favorite store
I will stay out and not even go on their website (online shopping is so dangerous). If I have to buy something, I will take a specific itemized list and buy only what is on that list.
5) Write out a budget and stick to it
Okay, so budgeting is boring.. but getting richer is definitely not boring :)
