Cocktails, Champagne & Happy hour in Montreal
If there's anything that Montreal does better than brunch -- and I brunch like a boss -- it would be 5-à-7. Yup, 5-à-7 is simply 'happy hour' à la Montréal (ah everything sounds a little classier in French). So after a long day of work in front of a computer or in meetings, it's always nice to unwind with friends and a strong drink. Oh, who we are kidding? It's never just one drink!
I certainly have my favorite places for 5-à-7 in Montreal. Here's one of my favorite places at the moment.

1184 Place Phillips, Montreal, QC H3B 3C8
VIBE
Located downtown, just a few minutes away from McGill station, Phillips Lounge is a trendy destination. The lounge is devided in two sections: one classic & cozy with comfortable armchairs and on the bar side with a hip atmosphere with a live DJ. The interior design gives you an Old Montreal vibe with a mix of Saint-Laurent Blvd's energy.
FOOD
Evening: For the foodie crowd, Phillips Lounge offers tapatizers. (We had the charcuterie platter at $20).
Lunch: Phillips Lounge offers a light menu during lunch time: sandwiches, fresh salads, and more. I went there last week with my colleagues and ordered a soup + Coquille St-Jacques -- served with salad & smashed potatoes ($21). The other time before, I had a soup + beef bourguignon (really good).
Drinks: Cool cocktails. (But I go with Prosecco, my drink of choice).
VERDICT
I like it. This is a great place for anyone to wind down after a long day at work. Lunch at Phillips Lounge is comfortable and tasty.
Pros - Fun, friendly people, affordable & great lunch in a classy environment. They also have a nice terrace at the back.
Cons - Thursday and Friday are really busy (like anywhere else). Unless you arrive early, you won't find a table.
Cheers!
