I think I gained 20 pounds over the weekend.
- Friday: I had dinner in a really nice restaurant with a friend.
- Saturday: I had one of the best brunches ever in Old Montreal.
- Sunday (love late Sunday mornings): I had a great time catching-up with friends over brunch (again.. i know!!).
So here I am... It's Monday and I feel guilty of all the food I ate during the weekend. I will eat salads for the rest of the week. I will NOT eating out. Ah, and I will run each day to burn those calories.
Once in a while, I'll meet some old friends from university for brunch. This time, we decided to have brunch at Leméac.
This is one of my favorites. A classic.

VIBE
Lemeac is located in the upscale Outremont neighborhood. The atmosphere and clientele both seemed to meander between classy and casual. This is a great place to have a business lunch or a romantic dinner. The French bistro style has a large space with stone floors, high ceilings with a lot of natural light, large windows with a pleasant view of Laurier West Avenue. They also have a large covered side patio that has approx. 10 tables. We sat outside on this warm summer day.
FOOD
The food is excellent. I've been going to Lemeac for nearly six years and really, I've never been disappointed. Okay, maybe once.. I usually take the poached eggs, smoked salmon OR poached eggs, sausages. But that morning I wanted something sweet (I don't even have a sweet tooth but for a change, I wanted something different) so I ordered French toast. Yup, I definitely love salty food. There was a ton of syrup and bananas - that was way too sweet for my taste. This was my only bad experience at Lemeac. Yesterday I ordered the poached eggs with sausages. PS: for the evening crowd, the $22 menu after 22:00 is fantastic!
Poached eggs with smoked salmon & Spanish caviar on blinis ($17)
Poached eggs, tomatoes, sausages, bacon, potatoes, pork & duck beans ($17)
VERDICT
Okay, I am biased when it comes to Lemeac... I only have good words for Lemeac. Just enough European tradition and modern energy. The crowd is a bit older though. Overall, the food here is excellent and well presented. It takes brunch to a whole new level. It's a bit pricey but worth it.
