Bring sexy back: Week 1

Dear journal,

Motivation, Motivation, Motivation.

Ah... the gym. Back on Dec 31 when I was making my New Year's Resolutions, the gym seemed like a perfectly reasonable goal. But somewhere between work and going out, the gym just doesn't seem as important as watching the season finale of Walking DeadAccording to Time Magazine, "60% of gym membership go unused and attendance is usually back to normal by mid-February.'' Yup, we live in a world of lazy people.

Okay, so here I am July 2013... Gym? Work out? Who, me? Like I said in my previous post, I have this membership that ends this month and I will not renew it. Yes, I know...exercise is one of the most fundamental activities to maintaining a good quality of life. It helps you sleep better - God knows I need it.., increase energy, reduce stress, depression, and much more. For cryin' out loud, I know!! That, however, doesn't mean it's easy to do.

Really, exercise is not my favorite thing to do. It's one thing to want to get fit, but it's a whole other thing to actually do it. So, no gym for me. I'm frugal, remember? :-D There are other ways of exercising that don't cost a cent.

So, how to bring sexy back...

1.Set a Goal

My goal: I want to improve my cardio endurance.
I've started jogging. Yes, jogging! For those who know me, I HATE running. So, this is a first for me. Total: 40 min ; 1 min run, 3 min walk.  (I thought I was going to die).

2. Inspiration Board
Sometimes all it takes is seeing another girl in great shape to kick our butts. Each morning, I go on the fitness/health instagrams. I'm amazed by how much inspiration I'm able to take from people in fitness, nutrition and overall wellness.
Here are some of my favorite instagrams: healthy_girl, selfmagazine, trainingheartyou

3. Grab the Gear
Well, I don't know for you guys but new work-out clothes alone can be motivation enough for me to work-out. Who wouldn't want an excuse to wear their new Lululemon pants or Adidas pink tank top? Using fitness as an excuse for shopping is a fun way for motivation. Okay, no more shopping people. Me = frugal.

4. Eat at least one salad daily as a meal.
Yup, I've been eating a yummy salad daily.

That's all for now folks.

Today's lesson: Working out is good and sitting around on your ass watching TV is bad.
