The Rise of Gold-Diggers (part 1)

Dear Journal,

Okay, I admit: I am very materialistic.

Honestly, I think there is nothing wrong with the desire to live a life of luxury and have an extravagant lifestyle. The problem comes in when there are those that want those things but are too lazy to put in the hard work to actually get them. Women go out to find rich men so that they can one day marry and have the possessions they long for. But you know what? Men are no better. Fast cars and big houses? They will sometimes risk it all just for money or try to have money by looking for short cuts.

Oh, and let's clarify the gold-digger thing... I think we have to make a difference here; there are two typesSo you have your typical gold digger - call them what you want "sugar babes", "exploiters", "opportunist" - who only seeks men who has money, status or power. She has no stability, talks about her goals but never execute them, depends on other to survive...anyway, you get the picture.

Then, you have the other type. A woman who has a great career, but still want more out of life. She just want someone on her level and there is nothing wrong with this.Men think that a woman who wants to be with a man who has a good job is a gold-digger. Well, if that's the case, then yes I'm a gold-digger. So are all my friends. Gee, wanting a man with a job is not gold digging! I'm not looking for a man who has a job so I can stay home and do nothing all day, then one day divorce him and take all his money. I'm not looking for a man who makes over $400K per year (though that would be nice). All I want is a man who has a good job, can take care of himself and who is ambitious enough. I like to go out, travel, go on vacations, go to museums, have fun, experience life. These things take money. In other words, I need a man who can support himself enough. And if all this makes me a gold digger, then I'll say it loud and hard, I am digging for gold and I'm proud.

For all the thirsty gold diggers out there... here's your anthem.

To be continued.
