Bad Boy Lovers

I love bad boys.

It's no secret that women prefer the bad boy to the nice guy. Whether you love Chuck Bass from Gossip Girl or had a crush on Klaus from Vampire Diaries, they really are irresistible. But, why? What is it about bad boys that even entices the most logical of girls?

The chase. Yes, the chase! We can't figure them out, but we want to. We don't know what they feel, but we won't stop until we figure it out. And of course, there's also the thrill of taming them. Every woman thinks they can tame a bad boy. He has potential and we can bring it out. So we keep working, trying to tame his wild ways and failing at that. Unfortunately, most bad boys don't want to be caught.

Okay people, I said I like bad boys, not jerks. There's a subtle differentiation between a bad boy, and some guy who is just a jerk. Women want a bad boy because if he wants something, he goes out and takes it. He is dominant and doesn't back down from anyone. He doesn't get walked on and is often the Alpha Male of his group. The bad boy embodies power, and as a result, makes his woman feel empowered as well.

Remember in their earlier years of dating, the media often painted The Carters as an odd couple? How can this charming Southern girl fall for this infamous Brooklyn bad boy rapper? "She fell in love with the bad guy/The bad guy/What you doing with them rap guys/Them rap guys/They ain't see potential in me girl/But you see it if it's you and me against the world/Then so be it", Jay-Z raps on Part II (On The Run). I don't know about you guys... but I just want to be Queen Bee and find my Jay-Z.

It's important to note that a bad boy will not discourage you, talk you down, make you feel badly about yourself, or just generally be unsupportive. If he does... well ladies, that guy is a plain JERK. He can bear a striking resemblance to the bad boy because he doesn't care what people think and does want he want. The difference is, he doesn't care who gets hurt in the process.

If you feel unappreciated, undervalued, discouraged or just generally not supported in relationship, he is not for you. Girlfriend, you deserve better. Don't make excuses for a guy who's not treating you right. Having your dignity and being alone is better than being in a relationship where you have to sacrifice it.

None of us have always made the best relationship choices but hey, that's how you learn.
